An interesting project for CSI

We get many requests for our EQResponse services, but this one was a little unusual.

Christchurch Adventure Park is your base for epic adventures and chilled out down-time set in Christchurch's Port Hills. Race through the valley on the dual zip-line tour. Take in the stunning views from the chairlift or walking track. Be totally stoked out by the stunning machine and hand-built mountain bike trails or just chill out on the large deck of our Café nestled in the Pine forest.

Damaged by scrub fires in February 2017, the Park has recently re-opened.  As part of the reconstruction and repair, the Park has installed a CSI EQResponse system, specifically to help manage immediate response to earthquakes and improve operational decisions around the chairlift, ziplines and building facilities.

Although the view was fantastic, the environment and access presented some challanges!  The system measures ground response using a CUSP-3B mounted at the base of one chairlift pylon.  Being fully exposed to the elements, the CUSP-3B is mounted inside a CUSP-ENC ruggedised enclosure.  Power is provided by a 130W solar panel, solar charger and 2 x 40 AH batteries; the system is fully grid independent.  Similarly, communication is provided by a CUSP-GPRS 3G cellular modem.  Email and SMS alerts, along with summary detailed post-event information are sent to the operational emergency response team, making robust decisions from defensible data.

All in all, a very interesting project and application, and one which showcases the flexibility of our products, and CSI.
